History of the set

3 years ago we were having a discussion about basic needs and what we take for granted in South Africa today. The subject of waking up in the morning and opening your tap to hot water came up. Does anybody not have this facility today? What a shock when we discovered that 90% of the people living in informal settlements and RDP house do NOT have HOT water on tap. To clean themselves they need to boil kettles get into some sort of basin and sponge themselves down enabling them to be presentable in some way.

How can this be changed?

Imagine waking up to no hot water, the first place you’ll visit is the gym for a shower.
We set out and designed a gravity fed geyser that would fit into any RDP house and informal settlements.

Running water is not a necessity but recommended. All that is need is a wall plug with 220 powers (solar is too expensive to install) all the other installation accessories are supplied.

The secret to this is there is no plumber or electrician required thus making it easy to install and cheap to run - R2.00 for 65lt of hot water

RDP houses are 36 - 42 sqm in size a little bigger that a double garage, have 4 rooms, one 20 amp electrical point, no lights or ceilings ,a wash basin with a cold tap in one room and another room of 1.8m x 1.8m that has a flush toilet only. Realizing this  a bath and hand basin was designed to go with the geyser as a set that fits into this bathroom
The building budget does not allow for hot water or a bath to be supplied by the builder.
Moulds were commissioned at tremendous costs, personally financed and are being manufactured in Steeldale near Johannesburg

Retailers were approached and asked to assist in bringing hot running water to the people. This was done with enthusiasm, but one must remember that the market we are servicing is at the bottom of the pack and they have NEVER had hot water on tap or taken a BATH

Our mission is to get running hot water to 1 million people and appeal to corporates to assist by getting involved in building projects by sponsoring bathrooms in new houses being build .This will help the government with funds, create advertising opportunities for the corporates and make the house recipient very happy .The cost of a bathroom is a little less than a business lunch.

What would the lasting experience be? ……. the lunch or the bathroom ….

This is our way of contributing to making a difference to the lives of fellow South Africans by giving them a BASIC NEED such as running HOT WATER
